Shrine to the self is a collection of work created from found objects, clay and electrical components. Inspired by the small window gallery space at the Exeter Phoenix I created a shrine like installation. These works address themes of modern day worship and the way we idolize people with technology and within social media platforms. I have been interested in the over familiarity of curated self-image that we now see of our peers on a daily basis and the effect this can have on us.

Images from a current and ongoing project exploring identity, what forms it has taken in the past, in different cultures, and how it will define us in the future. Many of these works are interactive involving QR codes and scannable NFC components. I am inspired by future technologies and how hyper connectivity is changing the definition of identity.

This project stemmed from my research on identity, what it means to be a person and how we interact and form relationships with each other. What makes us who we are, and what or who defines our identity.
